Fat Elvis has something going on downstairs

As Americans get fatter and fatter, the question is begged; What is the news media's responsibility concerning images accompanying reports about obesity?

We've all seen the picture of the random fat guy on the park bench, next to the article about the increased rates of
diabetes in the United States, or the fat women haplessly jiggling down the street as the voice over teases a study on how fat we are when compared to Canadians.

Is the media free to use any image they want in these scenarios? Can a featured fatty sue for mental anguish? Is there editorial discussion about how fat to make the fatty? Would it be yellow journalism if the fatty was disproportionately fat?

Feel free to discuss.

Note: Not really Elvis, of course. Did an image search for fat and I found him. Word to the wise ... never do an image search for "fat" with your content filter turned off. There are sick, sick people out there. Fat, fat people too.
