Miss New Jersey blackmailed by the year 1956

Even though I love a good beauty pageant sex scandal, I was barely able to muster any enthusiasm for the latest one, involving some Miss New Jersey, Amy Polumbo, and some blackmailer threatening to reveal racy pictures of Polumbo unless she abdicated her throne.

Apparently the blackmailer culled the photos from Facebook. While I hear things can get quiet steamy over on the social networking website these days, there has been something fishy about the story from the outset.

It seems to me you would want to keep a blackmail attempt against you quiet-- at least for a little while -- and not use it to get your mug all over the newspapers and the Internet -- thereby setting yourself up for a dramatic national shaming when the pictures do come out.

Unless . . . Hmmm. . .

Well, any theory that Polumbo was trying to cheat her way into our dirty hearts was squashed earlier today when the photos were revealed. I am reluctant to even link to them because this blog is not about fairly average looking college girls acting silly. But here they are.

As you can see, some nuns wear less clothes than Amy Polumbo does. There is speculation that the blocked out captions under the photos hold the secret to their controversial nature. But, as of now, I'm assuming Polumbo's misguided blackmailer is currently in a backyard bomb shelter writing a letter to The Saturday Evening Post about that hip-swiveling Elvis Presley.
