Idle threat of the week

I was surprised to learn it it was only recently that Ashley Alexandra Dupre, favored hooker of disgraced former New York governor Eliot Spitzer, hired a PR firm. According to the Daily News this wasn't for lack of effort, and Dupre has spent the last month being turned down by most of the big name firms. This delay in representation probably means that Dupre's legacy will be that of a small footnote in the history of political sex scandals, as opposed to a footnote who once starred in a spectacular failure of a basic cable TV reality show.

Who knew the PR folks used such discretion? Especially during a week in which the secretive West Texas polygamous church that has taken the news cycle by storm was able to launch a massive PR campaign.

So instead of taking on a notorious bright-eyed and scantily-clad 23-year old who just wants to pose nude and make mediocre R & B, flacks would rather accept the challenge of rehabilitating a religious sect that sanctions pedophilia, claims Jesus used to hang with the Indians, and forces its women to dress in a puritanical style so hideous only a victim of brain washing would ever agree to it.

Or is it all about getting cash up front?

Either way, the spin doctoring on the behalf of the Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is the Idle Threat of the Week for April 14th to 20th.

Made the more baffling when the same time and energy could have been directed at getting America's most famous (and of legal age!) sex worker featured on Ray-J's next single.
