Marion Barry cited by police, says nothing of consequence

In 1990 the phrase "Bitch set me up" was all the rage in the Washington DC area.

As well it should have been.

During a well-publicized hotel room sting involving crack cocaine, the cities popular but troubled
mayor uttered to authorities what quickly become the gold standard response to any hand-caught-in-the-cookie-jar situation.

Just recently a young
congressman from a famous family made a run at Barry's crown of elected official audacity by telling police he was "late for a vote." The punch line being he had just wrapped his car around a security barrier and it was 2:45 in the morning.

I'm inclined to give the title to Pastrick.

"Late for a vote" might lack the potential t-shirt ubiquity of a "bitch set me up." But the guy is a Kennedy for god's sake, and the word "bitch" has lost a bit of its oomph with all of that Hip Hop stuff going around.

Anyway, it seems Barry had a chance reclaim his throne last
night. He said nothing of note. It's nice to see the former Mayor is still having a good time, but clearly he has lost a few steps.

Marion Barry...I made fun of him so much. I trademarked the expression, "smoking like a Marion Barry crack tape" to replace, you're on a roll, you're on fire, etc.
